Rafael Alexandre de Sousa Gancho de Brito joined Benfica's academy as a child and spent fourteen years at the club. He signed his first professional contract in February 2018 and renewed it in January 2020 through to 2024.

A defensive midfielder who read the game well and distributed simply, he made his professional debut for Benfica B on 11 August 2019 in a Liga Portugal 2 win over Estoril Praia, aged seventeen. He was a member of the under-19 squad that reached the UEFA Youth League final in 2019-20 and became a fixture in the reserve side, making 63 appearances in the second tier between 2019 and 2022 without scoring.

He was never used in a competitive match by the first team. In June 2022 Benfica loaned him to Marítimo for the season, giving him his first taste of the Primeira Liga.

On 1 July 2023 he left permanently for Casa Pia, where he spent three seasons before declining to renew and leaving on a free transfer in 2026. He won 29 caps across Portugal's youth teams, up to under-20 level.
