Description
<p>The Estádio Municipal de Aveiro was designed by the Portuguese architect Tomás Taveira and inaugurated on 15 November 2003 with a match between Portugal and Greece. Its brightly coloured tile-work exterior makes it the most flamboyant of the Euro 2004 grounds.</p><p>It was one of the ten stadiums used at Euro 2004, staging two Group D matches, and holds 32,830. Sport Clube Beira-Mar were the intended long-term tenants.</p><p>The final cost including access roads and parking approached €70 million; the loans taken out to build it were only repaid in 2024.</p>
