Stade Rennais FC, founded in March 1901, is the leading club of Brittany and plays at Roazhon Park in Rennes, a stadium on the Route de Lorient it has occupied since 1912. The red and black colours have been worn since the club's earliest years, and supporters know the team as Les Rouge et Noir.

Rennes has won the Coupe de France three times, in 1965, 1971 and 2019, the last of those after recovering from two goals down against Paris Saint-Germain and winning the shoot-out. The club has also twice won the second division and shared the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2008. It is best known for an academy rated among the finest in France, which produced Ousmane Dembélé, Eduardo Camavinga and Mathys Tel. Owned since 1998 by the Pinault family, Rennes is now a regular in European competition and finished sixth in Ligue 1 in 2025-26.
