The Mirandela-born centre-back took his first steps at Abambres Sport Club and CFT Benfica de Viseu before joining the club's academy, where he has spent the bulk of his formative years.

Standing 1.88m and right-footed, he is a commanding aerial presence who reads the game well and is comfortable distributing the ball. He progressed through the Under-19 and Under-23 sides before being integrated into Benfica B in Liga Portugal 2, and has been capped by Portugal at youth level.
