David Barrero was born in Colombia in February 2000 and joined Benfica's academy, where he was registered with the B team for the 2019-20 season as a centre-forward.
He did not make a senior appearance and left Lisbon in 2022, returning to South America. He subsequently turned out for São Gabriel and Santo André in Brazil.
