Duarte Soares was born in Elvas on 19 February 2007 and joined Benfica's academy, developing as a right-back. He is right-footed.
He progressed through the Seixal youth sides to the Benfica B squad and was registered with the club for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.
