Anderson Luis da Silva, known as Luisao, is a Brazilian centre-back who joined Benfica from Cruzeiro in 2003 and stayed fifteen seasons, most of them as captain. He made more than four hundred appearances and won four league titles, seven League Cups and two Portuguese Cups. His contract ran out in the summer of 2018 but he stayed with the squad through the pre-season, playing in the July friendlies, and announced his retirement at the Estadio da Luz on 25 September 2018 before joining the club's structure.
